A LOVING TRIBUTE TO...

"Tia"

Happy 11th Birthday to CH/CD Tia, dam to my boys, Pirate and Guidon, and their exceptional sisters (Fanny, Picabo and Maud). Tia was only bred twice & produced for me titled and certified get in every puppy I kept, including two Specialty Best In Show Danes, one who took breeds from the classes, the other who was ranked & a Group winner; not to mention various other working titles--all this owner-handled.

These (very few) dogs in less than a handful of breedings have gone on to produce for me multiple titled dogs in their get now. For example, Picabo, in one litter, has produced five titled/certified Danes, including CHs with other titles, and her CH+ daughter produced for us recently a most exceptional litter we are very excited about. (One of these girls, Amour, right now graces the front page of our website).

Of course Tia was herself was quality, a perfect example of how having a great bitch gives you a leg up, & I was fortunate to get her; bred by Jodie Keim and Mike Chiles, she is a Fraser daughter out of a Rox daughter. She was Specialty major ptd. from the puppy classes & also won various Best Puppy & Sweeps awards. She was a certified, working TDI Therapy Dog as of her first birthday, a CH before her second birthday (with multiple Specialty wins), and finished her CD (Companion Dog-obedience) title in three entries, with three first places, ending with a 195 & highest scoring Working Dog for a Group win, and then was ranked in the Top Ten Danes for Obedience for over a yea. She also received the honor of the Versatility Award from the GDCA in 1998.

But, beyond all this, my "Tia" is everything you want to see in a Dane: solid temperament, robust health and beautiful type. She is, as I say I always want<G>: "Sound, sane and Daney!" <G> She is in perfect health at 11. Her thyroid is normal, her hips are still good, she can still do several miles a day, play with the pack, and so on. She's never taken<G> a sick day in her life. In the two now VETERAN litters I have from her, from which I kept 2 dogs and 3 bitches, they have all been a pleasure to own, also all very healthy, not to mention<G>heavily titled, and I also have Tia's great-granddaughter here with me; lovely to see four generations at once all together? It's one of those things we all like to see? jpY"
