A LOVING TRIBUTE TO...
"Miss Cayce"
Dr. Bev's Cayce of Creekside, CGD, TD Inc.
June 8, 1994 - October 5, 2004
It's been 3 days since we released Miss Cayce from her increasing pain. This was so hard to do but we knew it was the best thing for her. Cayce turned 10 in June of this year and was our first
Great Dane. She had been showing off for company this past summer (chasing lizards) and appeared to have hurt her back; zigging when she should have zagged. The vet suspected a mass on her spine or a slipped disk; one leg became weak. She was on pain medication but after about 4 months her leg became worse overnight.
On Monday, October 4, 2004, she could not get up from her bed, could not bare weight on the leg, and collapsed when she would go out. She became very upset that she could not take care of herself; she was very proud, hated to be helped, and we wanted her to remain the proud matriarch.
Cayce was a fighter and survived cancer when she was 4 years old but I suspect it had returned very recently. My heart is broken, my eyes ache, I miss her so much. We love you Miss Cayce.........you stubborn, sweet angel..........we know you are with all your buddies that have gone before you chasing lizards around rainbow bridge
..........wait for Mom and Day and we'll cross together someday!
Cayce is survived by her Dane housemates:
Dakota 9 1/2 yrs; Roxy 6 yrs; and Roxy's boys Talker and Dion 2 yrs.
