Katies visit to the vets was not good. She is experiencing atrial fibrillation, pulmonary edema and an enlarged heart. She will have an echocardiogram later in the week to make the definitive diagnosis, likely cardiomyopathy. She will start on medication tonite and hope that it slows down her heart rate but if not then the outcome will not be good. If anyone has experince dealing with this I would aprreciate their input. Thanks to all that responded to my original post.

RE: bad news
So sorry to hear about your lousy rotten vet visit. Luckily you are a good mommy and brought her in instead of letting it go. I hope the meds work well for her. Waiting for results and tests is so hard. Wish you had all you answers NOW! Will keep her in my thoughts. Keep us posted!

RE: bad news
Here's a site that is informative about various ailments. There's a section in it for heart problems.

RE: bad news
I'm so sorry to hear your news.
I unfortunately have a dog also that is suffering from Major heart problems including Cardiomyopathy.
Please realise you are not alone and feel free to Email or send me a personnal message. I know what you are going through and beleive me, it is not necessarily a death sentence, even though it sounds so horrid at the moment. The Echocardiogram(Sp?) can tell you alot.
Hang on in there til you get these results and you'll be able to make a much more informed descision.
You are in our thoughts.
Karen.
