        Reoly...

I remember seeing, years ago.....a picture in the Reporter of a Blue litter of 19. All alive. Remarkable !

Since she had this newspaper coverage, she now gets free advertising to sell them.

And I thought a litter of 13 was work.
        Good luck to the dog's owner:9 :9 :9

I couldn't open the story either, but I'm wondering how many pups in a litter is the "correct" amount. I know my (very reputable) breeder had two litters this past summer of 13 each. Don't know if any didn't make it, but 13 each is number of live pups.

Sadie and Hannah came from a litter of 11.

                Reply.....

I don't know if there's a "correct" amount of puppies.
My girl had 13, and on the way back from the vet's for a "clean out" shot.........had another pup in the parking lot of a grocery store. He was not breathing, and I couldn't save him.
So we had a baker's dozen.

I know in Germany, in the past.....they limited the amount of puppies that were allowed to live in a litter. They had a "dog warden", who came to your house.....and determined the ones who stayed and the ones who didn't.
I don't know if this is still practiced there or not.

Even tho I bought cases of goat milk to suppliment my pups....mom did just fine, all by herself.

To the others who couldn't see the article....you have to register with the newspaper. Takes just a minute and it's free.

Oh my gosh! I registered and saw the clip. When the Mama dog barked, Bonnie and Ursie leaped off the bed, barking, and tore outside. Cracked me up.

                      RE: 21 litter record

I believe I saw somewhere before the record was 21, all lived, in a litter of irish setters.

I doubt it. AAMOF, I heard on another board that the dam isn't even registered and is only about 18 months old herself.

I have to wonder how many people will buy these pups for bragging rights, just because the story was covered in the paper. I think it's a very sad situation.

Amen! Sad alright. Just another BYB'er adding to the problem with pups of basically unknown heritage, health and temper. ;-)
