  • Stomach stapling

I recently was told by a pet Land employee that "they" were starting to staple Danes stomachs to prevent gastric torsion. Any one hear of this before?

Of course the same person told me that he saw an 8 month old female Dane that was "this much" bigger then my Diesel (He motioned about 8 inches with his hands). Diesel was 10 months old on the 22nd; he was 34 inches at the withers last week.

Tacking the stomach is far from being new. Many Dane owners do this to prevent torsion. It doesn't however, prevent bloat all it does is buy time for you to get your dog to the vet.

Oh My...I wouldn't believe ANYTHING a pet store, "puppy pusher" had to say.

ETA..Stay out of those places that sell puppy mill pups, don't give them any $$$$$$$. Only buy at the pet stores that DON'T sell pups.

        My sweet girl Jade
It is called gastropexy. My girl had to have an emergency spay in June, so I had them do the pexy at the same time. I intended to have it done anyway so I figured we might as well while she was under anesthesia once. I lost my first Dane to complications of torsion surgery. As previous post stated-it does not prevent bloat, just keeps stomach from rotating which causes the most damage.
