POSTING PHOTOS UPDATED 10-29-09 - please read

NOTE: Please be considerate of our dialup members. Please make signatures no larger than 250 pixels at the longest side and photos no larger than 400 pixels at the longest side. Also please check your file sizes. Sigs should really be no larger than 25 kbs.

If you are linking to an album offsite(like photobucket), please use the thumbnail size. It will automatically link to the larger size photo for viewing.

Further information on the information below, can be found on our FAQ page: http://dolforum.com/forum/faq.php

    From our FAQ: http://dolforum.com/forum/faq.php?fa...atures_avatars

    What are signatures?

'Signatures' contain information that you want to include at the bottom of all your posts. This might include pictures, links to your site(s), quotes, etc.
Be reminded that links to personal sites are permitted, but links to forums/commercial/sales sites are not.
That means no puppy ads, no upcoming puppy/future litters information, no stud dog info, no sales of merchandise or for sale stuff at all. If you have something to sell on your site, please remove your website link from your signature.

    What are avatars?

Avatars are small images that people use to identify or distinguish themselves to other forum members. In some cases the administrator will not allow avatars or only allow them for specific members. The administrator can also provide some stock avatars people can use, or they can allow members to upload their own custom avatars from their own computers. These avatars will be displayed as part of the user info in posts, as well as in the public profile.

For more information about avatars, please click here: http://dolforum.com/forum/misc.php?do=showavatars

    What are profile pictures?

Profile Pictures are photos members can upload that will display in their public member profile.

How do I set signatures, avatars and profile pictures?

Go to USER CP, "Edit Options", "Miscellaneous Options", and check WYSIWYG in the Message Editor Interface.

You can set and change your signature, avatar and profile picture in the User Control Panel.

For signatures, click on 'Edit Signature' under the 'Settings and Options' area of the navigation bar within the User CP.

To select an existing or upload a new avatar, click on 'Edit Avatar'.

To upload a profile picture, click on 'Edit Profile Picture' in the 'Your Profile' section.

    From: http://dolforum.com/forum/faq.php?fa...b3_attachments

How do I attach a file to a post?

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

What files types can I use? How large can attachments be?

In the attachment window you will find a list of the allowed file types and their maximum sizes. Files that are larger than these sizes will be rejected. There may also be an overall quota limit to the number of attachments you can post to the board. Please read note above in red about consideration for our dialup members.

How do I add an image to a post?

If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.

To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website (please only include photos that belong to you or that you have permission to use-DO NOT post photos from other people's websites), you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums in this way too.

DOL offers a Photo Gallery http://www.gdohosting.com/dolforum/ for storage of your photos.

Please remember that some of our members may be on dialup, so please be considerate and do not post extremely large files.

**NOTE** Please do not hotlink images from other websites that are not your own. It is considered bandwidth theft. Please do not post photos that do not belong to you. Do not post photos of dogs that do not belong to you.

If you do quick reply, you have to click the "Go advanced" button. The attachment icon is the little paperclip, the image icon is a little yellow square with a mountain in it.

Where are the "Attachment Icon" and "Insert Image" buttons? I can't seem to figure out how to insert an image into a post.

Have to ask this again as some shared photos are getting huge and I'm getting complaints that some folks can't download the threads.

**NOTE** Please do not hotlink images from other websites (product photos, puppy photos, ad photos, etc) that are not your own and from your own hosting acct or album account. It is considered bandwidth theft and those photos will be removed.
