  • Taping Ears Separately

Does anyone have a recommendation of when to stop racking the ears together? I don't want to wait to late to start utilizing those ear muscles!

I stop bridging as soon as they're able to hold them up. Riddle's ears were starting to touch at the tips when he was alters out of tapes, so the bridge stopped then. I think by 12 weeks?

I would say it depends somewhat on the crop (longer may take longer) and also on the method you use to tape. If you tape the entire ear, it is heavier and may need to be supported longer. However, if you only tape sections, it's not so heavy and may be sooner.

I usually stop around 12 weeks. Again, as stated, depends on the ear, the taping method, etc.

Just for us potential future tapers.....

Do you mean you stop using the bridge at 12 weeks of age... or after 12 weeks of taping?!

          Just curious! Thx!

I think they mean 12 weeks of age. But Athena wore the bridge for MUCH longer than that (like 5 months).

It really depends on the dog and crop. Athena's crop is crazy long. Belles was much shorter and only needed a bridge until about 12 weeks. She was also completely finished by 4 months old. So it just depends.
