Our dog who I recently had to PTS looked almost exactly like that and I always assumed she was a Dane mix. We didn't know for sure because we got her from the shelter. Her ears basically went up on their own.

Yes, this can happen. All you are doing is training the cartalige how to stand. Sadly they won't have the nice look of a crop. Out cartilage as we grow stiffens. So if you start taping at a very young age can you make a difference yes!!! But will it have the same look as a cropped Dane NOOOO. but yes anatomically it can be done!!! The bell and ear shaft will not resemble a cropped dane but yep it can be done.

yes, the cartilage is very malliable and can stand. I do express that it would have a diffent look than a cropped dane but yes it can happen... I wouldn't advise it as it has a very different lool. Puppies cartilage is soft and we tape to make it stand. However, uncropped ears have much more cartalidge to have stand. Harder but can happen

My 16 year old son walked over when I had the picture up and said that it was an ugly giant chi. He agrees with everyone else.Chris, Wife to Dave, and Mom three human teenagers.
Also mom to Tori (11 yo Lab), , Ayla (2 yo brindle dane), Milo (2 yo boxer), Killian (4 week old iw pup who is still with his breeder and mommy) 3 kittens, 2 horses, multiple reptiles, 7 fainting goats, 25 chickens, and 2 pot bellied pigs, all of whom make life great!
RIP CARLIE 2/09-2/11 & REILLY 10/4/08-11/20/12, best friends together forever now.

As to the OP, it looks absurd to have uncropped ears stand up like that. At best it has a semi German Sheppard look. Holy Gianormous Ears Batman! LMAO! That looks like a shepherd mix to me!
I would be interested to see if someone who has a natural eared puppy would be willing to dedicate the time and effort into posting to see the ears really would stand. I don't think the would. I think a purebred dane has too much ear and it would be too heavy to stand without being cropped.~Amy~
