      I'm coming in late to this thread, but I just wanted to add two tidbits.

      First, he looks great and his ears look great, too!

      Second, when surgical staples are removed PROPERLY, they are NOT cut. I'd be concerned about using wire cutters because one side of the staple could, at least in theory, be inadvertently left in the skin with that method. When staples are removed properly, a specific "staple-removing" instrument is used. It does not cut the staple, instead it bends the staple back which releases the hooked part under the skin and allows them to slide right out.

      Keep up the great work with him! He's very handsome!

          I am also just coming into this thread. Our vets have also never used any wire-cutting tool on staples. Just a tool that bends and removes as mentioned above.

          Looking at these latest pics, his ears look just fine. You really can't notice that he lost any of the tips. It looks like a nice crop and like you've done a fine job taping/posting! He's a cutie!
