  • Problem with one ear

My 6 month old has a longer crop, one ear is standing quite well except for some floppyness at the tip, but the other, as soon as I take off the tape it's laying on top of his head, almost like it's turned inside out if that makes any sense. Is there a method of taping that would work better to try and get it straightened out? I know he's still teething, but it almost seems like the cartiledge is broken. It's wanted to lay on his head since the very beginning when they came off the cups.

    I've been using this method:

but substituting a plastic wire tie for the popsicle stick and molefoam instead of the insoles.

Are they straight when you post or do they flop? They need to be braced straight if leaning.

They stand great when taped, I've never braced them across the top of his head. Sometimes the one that's standing will lean a bit over his head, but not badly. It's that other one that just lays there. These aren't the greatest pictures, they were taken a month or two ago. Reminds me I need to get some new ones of him.

Maybe if you use another method it will help thicken the cartlidge by taping with foam, cork and stays or one of the other ways. But they look great taped and they just arent done hes baby and teething and it just takes a while. Vit C and knox gelatin sometimes helps when taping also. They look great in tapes. He is very young still Ive had some Ive only had to tape a couple times and done forever and Ive had some Ive taped a year or more and I no some taped 2 years.

I did buy some pipe foam the other day thinking I might try that technique for a while. I know it can takes ages, but it seems so stubborn about flipping inside out on top of his head, I'd really hate for it to stay that way permanently. I only leave them down for an hour or two between taping. I've been giving him 500mg Vit C, should I up it a bit? I'll sure be glad when he's done teething, not only are the ears softer but he had such tight little cat feet, and right now it looks like he's wearing swin fins!

Id slowly up the Vitamin C to 1500-2000mg a day depending on what your pup tolerates without loose stool This will raise the feet back up as you say and help the ear leather. The foam will help give some form and shape and may help strenghten as well.

              RE: Problem with one ear

I have this problem with Lexi when I first take her tape off. I started using a cable tie between the bridge between her ears so she can only pull the muscles so far. That has worked the best for us. I can show you pictures of before when the ears (both) fell on top of her head and what they are doing now. She will be 8 months on Christmas. PM me if you want me to email you the pics. Good luck - it's frustrating - I know.
