Actually it would feel cool, not burn.

I use dried out natural baby-wipes and either:

Ark Naturals Herbal Ear Cleaner (no real preference for brand of herbal cleaners)

half herbal cleaner and half raw ACV

McKillips solution - its a horse remedy powder made into a liquid, turns out to work great on ears as an antiseptic and astringent

No, well, I've never been told by Gunner that it does! He actually enjoys it, so I don't think it does or he'd complain big time!

Does the rubbing alcohol burn their ears?

I use a mixture of equal parts rubbing alchohol, ACV (apple cider vinegar), and luke warm water. Dip cotton balls in it and clean the ear.

Gwenna told me about this when I was always having trouble with Gunner getting ear infections, and I'll forever be thankful, he hasn't had one since we started using this mixture on a regular basis! My Vet also approves highly of all the mixture. When the infections were very bad, our Vet told me to pour some of the mixture into his ear rub it in for a bit and let Gunner shake it out ... all done outside of course!

I usually order it online (I think there is only one pet store in the area that carries it, and they sell animals, so I don't go there.) There are a couple of different places you can order it from. If you do a search on Yahoo! or Google for Halo Herbal Ear Wash, you'll find several sites and can compare prices that way. I usually order it from B-Naturals or Only Natural Pet, or you can even order it directly from Halo at halopets.com

Ingredients: In a base of Witch Hazel, Natural Herbal Ear Wash contains the following full strength herbal oils and extracts: Chamomile Extract, Sage Oil, Clove Oil, Hore Hound Extract, Southern Wood Extract, Marigold (Calendula) Extract, Penny Royal Oil, St. Johnís Wort Oil.

ETA: I've tried a couple of different herbal washes, and I like this one the best. It smells the best and doesn't leave a sticky residue like some of the others do (and FYI - I don't follow the directions which say to pour it into the ear. My dogs would never speak to me again if I did that.)

I use 100% cotton balls and dab them in Halo Herbal Ear Wash, and then swipe their ears with that about once per week.
