RE: WOW!!!!
So neat! I love to see Picabo smile over the jumps--does she have a fan club? How do I join? <g>
I've been meaning to ask you JP, (and anyone else who does Dane agility) when it would be appropriate to start that sort of training with Isaac. He's just over 5 months now, and is very clever but not reliable with all obedience commands (yes, I know he's a baby!) My dog obedience club sponsors agility classes and workshops during the summer. Isaac is too little and babyish to really do the classes, but should I let him play on the equipment when I help set it up and take it down? Would that be pushing him too soon? I just don't want him to be scared of it later. When did you start doing agility with your kids--were they a couple years old, at least? Thanks for your input-
Sally

when & another website
he is old enough now to be introduced to the contact obstacles and tunnels - no jumping.
I would not let him play on equip while setting up, as he could get hurt. I would start teaching him to touch contacts and go slow on them.
most don't do any sort of jumping until after a year old, and then it is still at a lower height. you can start teaching directional commands earlier by using a bar flat on the ground.
btw - great website that I was just told about, has agility stats and pics and vids:
