Dane puppy is very protective

Is it normal for danes to be very protective of their family? My pup just turned 1 year old and ive had him since he was 8 weeks but he is very protective of my family and I if anyone tried hurting one of us he will attack and wont back down till told to is that normal behavior for a dane?

It is not a good behavior for many reasons..someone can be badly injured, it can lead to more intense behaviors and it is also very bad manners.. It needs to be addressed and removed.

Ok thank you i will get in contact with a behaviorist or trainer and see what we can do about this

This is not good or wanted behavior and needs to be addressed.. You need to enlist the help of a good trainer and/or a behaviorist.

What is wrong with the behavior that needs to be addressed if you don't mind me asking? He does not attack as in bite or show teeth but as in he jumps on the person to knock them over if that makes sense and blocks them from getting closer to the person he is protecting
