    New puppy Senior Dane

We have an almost 7 year old female Dane, Allie. About two weeks ago we brought home a male Dane puppy named Henry. Henry is behaving like a typical 11 week old puppy...I think. He nips at Allies ankles and will bite her neck. Allie plays along most of the time and has only sent a warning snarl once to leave her alone. Iím not sure Henry is understanding her cues to stop though and Iím unsure if I need to intervene. Henry tried to grab Allies bone from her and even though Allie warned him with a growl he still took it from her. Allie didnít react any further and it didnít escalate. Is this all normal?! I donít want to let the new puppy bully the older dog. Advice?

They do need to work things out and learn how to interact.. this is particularly important for your puppy to learn. The pup needs to learn dog body language and how to nbe respectful.. Your adult can teach the pup a lot, but you need to be there to supervise during the learning process.

Ok thanks. Iíve been keeping the pup tethered to me most o the time and that seems to help keep things calm.

Since he is young an adult dog will usually grant a bit of leeway but there will come a time where the adult will say enough is enough mind your manners.. when this happens there may be injury.. do not allow the pup to bully and be ill mannered.. be ready to intervene.
