Some of the responses I have had to Wyatt's biting, growling, etc, have been questions regarding his breeder. Wyatt was advitised in the local paper, male 6 weeks old. I read it the morning I was on my way to the Detroit Zoo for a pet adoption. When I stopped she brought him out from a ?barn and put him in a rounded off gate. He was spastic. She picked him up and he was very hyper. I made a comment about it and she said it was just because she got him out of the kennel. When my husband got home from work we went back. The pup was in the house and much more calm. When he got up to walk around, his right front paw turned inward. We said something about it and they said they never noticed it and thought he might have gotten stung or had an infection. To make a long story short, I found out he was 9 weeks, not 6. She said she gave him his first set of shots, was due for his next but she hadn't done it yet. I took him and said I would go to the vet on Monday to get his paw looked at and then make a decision. Of course over the next few days we all fell in love with him and it didn't matter what the vet said. However, he did have a name for this problem, and said he didn't know if it eventually would cause him shoulder problems. We started him on aspirin. I called the breeder and told her this. She put me on hold for a few minutes, came back on the phone and said if I took him, I could have him for half price. I didn't tell her I was taking him anyway. We stared over with the shots from square one to be sure he had everything he needed. I have had a few people tell me I might have saved his life. They think she would have put him down as to not "jeopardize" her reputation and line of dogs with this bone disorder. Anyway, I just wanted to give a little background as to why I haven't called the breeder. I'm not sure I even have a phone number for her or that I would get accurate information.
