  • Biting the leash!

Lately Elvis has decided that its fun to bite and tug on his leash. I use a flat nylon lead and I just went to the store to get a leather one. He's been real good so far working on lead, basically around the house, to and from the car and visits outside, but now he either wants to carry it in his mouth or tug on it. Any suggestions?

    RE: Biting the leash!

I think it is just normal puppy behavior. Mine have always went through that phase for a short time. I am sure there are probably training tricks you could try and some one will probably chime in soon.

If you hold the leash high up behind their head and then behind your back - kinda hard to describe - it makes it so they can't. Parker actually bit through his first leash...yikes!

Jewel always has and still does this. When we go on walks, she likes to have something in her mouth. If she doesn't have a toy/stick with her, she wants the leash, if not the leash then she wants my sleeve. It's very annoying. I tried Bill's advice, but that was probably 3 or 4 months ago, and she's still not any better. You better believe we go through a lot of leads (leather and nylon). I was told to use a chain leash but she still carried it lol. I've just sorta come to accept it as part of her weird personality lol. Unless anyone has any advice??
