  • Nylon Dog Bones

Has anyone used these for their danes? I am having a few issues with him swallowing nylon pieces. Spartacus has been chewing on everything in site. So I went shopping for him and ran across these.

Yep...they eat them, pretty darn quick too. I don't give them to mine. They get frozen Shank bones ( not the dried bones on the shelf) and Himalayan chews- supervised! I take the chews away when I think they are small enough to cause a choking hazard and the Shank bones if they break or have jagged edges. And good old Kongs with frozen treats inside...

I do beef neck bones and ribs, Kongs, Himalayan chews occasionally ($$$$), and bully sticks.

The reason I have been looking for other chew toys is because when he chews on real bones too much his poop comes out white and powdery.

What kind of bones are you giving? If his poop is white, it's because he's eating them. Try something big, like a beef knuckle one that he can gnaw on and not eat.

It is the knuckle, because he is sitting there for 30-40 min gnawing on it they still get shaving of the bone. So if is gnawing long enough that is a lot of shavings.

How often are you giving them? And is he on raw or kibble? Mine are raw fed, but I've never noticed an issue with the recreational bones adding too much bone.

ETA you could try other things like antlers. Mine like whole or split elk and moose antlers. I get them relatively cheap from chewy.com. Or I get deer antlers free from my dad when he hunts. You could also try water buffalo horns or frozen pig feet, but the pig feet don't last that long. They're just a nice cold treat on a hot day.

I have the super hard nylabones for Eli. They are called like durachew. I have a few of those and I have a few of the super big ones (galileo and big versions).

If you're going to get Nylabones, make sure you are getting the Durachew formula. These are the only ones that stand a chance against a great dane.
