Has anyone used locking tile flooring as an alternative to carpet? I keep my Dane in a front bedroom but recent stomach issues has all but ruined my carpet. I would like to get something somewhat soft but durable to put down, and also something that he could not chew up. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Here is the problem with any locking floor system... spills, accidents...wet shoes or dogs....the moisture gets in the joints (I don't care how quickly you wipe it up) and then they bubble up and look like crap. I would stick to ceramic tile but nothing too slick for safety sake or good old fashion linoleum

I've had moisture get into even my laminate and vinyl tile through the seams. If you're looking for something inexpensive, I'd try linoleum.

The previous owners put ours in We'll be replacing most of the flooring in the house once hubby is done with school. The carpet is shot with 2 Danes and a swampy back yard.

Really? How do people keep locking floor systems clean without using any moisture? We aren't planning any flooring changes but when we buy I always figured hardwood and tile would be the way to go...

My locking Wilsonart laminate flooring hasn't bubbled at ALL and I've had it 10+ years. It's also completely scratch-free still. It's had plant water leaked on it, spills, dog and cat messes, huge bones dropped on it, furniture sliding around, and a hoard of giant/large dogs/cats with claws/ rowdy kids running all over it. If you get HIGH quality laminate, you won't have any troubles.

Hardwood is good...still some issues but at least you can sand and refinish - not so with laminate. I have some of the higher end glossy 30yr laminate and even w rubber back carpets (which only help to lock the moisture UNDER them) they are trashed - and don't waste your time searching for a sealer...there is none. Tile is good, but slick especially when wet or covered with drool- I opted for a more natural slate like finish- And you do need to clean the grout and re-seal every now and then. But most def a better way to go than carpet.

It seems Wilsonart doesn't make flooring any longer. Too bad, it's amazing stuff.

Any top of the line (expensive) laminate should perform the same, though. It's not something you'll find in the big box stores. You'd have to go to a business dedicated to quality flooring.

I think the previous owners just painted and redid the floors with cheap stuff to sell the house...which is not a huge deal because I don't like what they picked anyway The only nice flooring in the whole house is the really high quality carpet in the dining room, which is from 1974 and is forest green with pink, blue, and tan roses

I wanted Wilsonart laminate, I'm so disappointed they don't make it anymore!

If you do tile you should reseal often. There are sealers that are supposed to last 10yrs or more but I honestly don't trust the claims. We bought our home from my parents and they were not good about resealing the grout and had a dog that had accidents and no matter what I do I cannot get the dog smell out of one room (smells if it is damp out). I have tried all sorts of cleaners / enzyme stuff and nothing gets rid of it. When we have some extra money that floor is getting ripped out down to the sub floor.....

                            Flooring

They make clic lock rubber wood flooring. We are installing in our master. They sell a less quality at big box stores or go to smaller stores or online and you can buy the true commercial quality. My parents have it in their bathroom and on their patio and in garage. They were always real wood only folks till they found out how quiet and durable this floor is. It doesn't allow water to penetrate, no plastic barrier needed and it's not super cold in winter. We are awaiting our shipment.. So ready to rip up the carpet in the master!!! Looks amazing to boot!

What is the brand???? Do they have dogs? Wondering if it scratches. We have wood with like a thousand coats of poly and it shows every little nail scratch from the dogs.
