  • Minnie turned 7 Months Yesterday

Minnie was 7 months yesterday...and she is now "blistering" the scales at 72 lbs . Fortunately she is a sweetheart!

Then I see that handsome boy Chase at 5 months and 115# lol, holy moly. What a good looking boy! My girl is a runt. My 5 YO son is a runt too, started kindergarden yesterday and is literally the smallest kid in school, and it isn't real close. 5 years, 4 months old and 30 lbs lol.

    Anyway...just a Minnie update.

Yay Minnie , happy 7 month birthday!!! I hope she had a fun day yesterday. Kumah weighed about the same at that age, then once she hit 11 months she stopped growing height wise and just slowly keeps putting weight on. Lol. She has miraculously gotten to 95lbs. .

Kumah is such a pretty young lady! I am hoping we can get to around 115-125 but we shall see. I am not changing any feeding habits just to put weight on her unless she looks too skinny, which she does not right now. lean for sure, but not skinny.

Its weird, because her mom was fairly large as well as some of her adult offspring that I was able to see from previous litters. Mom and a couple older sisters were pushing 150lbs.

        Happy 7 month B-day!

she is a good looking gal.. the name suits her well then. what was that club "teacup Dane"

You know Dan I am seeing a lot of Danes that are smaller than we all grew up with or remember nowadays. With the exception of those like Chase and Finn (blue pup).

Danes all grow at different rates. I am pretty sure Ivy was around 75lbs at 6 or 7 months. She fully matured at a bit over 32" and 130lbs.

I dont know that they are really smaller. I think we know more about feeding them correctly for SLOW and steady growth and yeah, memories are weird things. People exaggerate size, we remember things from when we were children in relation to our child sizes, etc. Plus, as you get used to your own dogs size it starts seeming really normal...I never think of my danes as huge dogs. And for Danes they are not HUGE, but they are perfectly average sized danes which are still really big dogs.

excellent point... size is relative and people do like to "liven up" their dogs size. as a 10 year old girl running around with the 2 Danes that started my love for the breed they were GIANTS....

He's almost 5 and still kinda has that teen dane look. but he's gonna let mini know teacup danes are cool too! welcome to the club but at only 7 months haha you might not be staying in it. she actually sounds fine for her age.

Even though he's not big for a Dane, he still looks huge next to that couch!

yup hes still a big dog that's just a two seater couch big enough to seat two people comfortably. LOL its his can't you tell? he doesn't have a huge thick body or big bones but he does fall in the average range height wise. I hadn't measured him officially in awhile but I think hes close to 35" now. If he had more meat on his bones and on his withers he'd definetly be 35" easy.

this was him at 1 year. If I can get him to look like that again id be happy!
so if mini looks like teen looking andross she could very well fill out to what andross looked like when he was 1. Idk just showing how much of a difference the weight can make. I personally wouldn't try to beef her up until later. just see where she ends up first then go from there. shell be fine.

I have always loved the pictures in your signature of Andross. Such a good looking boy. I would have never pegged him to be 5 from the picture.

He definitely was thicker back at 1.

Oh yeah - I am not complaining either...she is a great girl regardless of size. Would love for her to get to be closer to the 120's and a little taller, but whatever will be, will be. Definitely not going to try to "fatten" her up in any way at this age.
