  • DOL massive meet and greet

So this may be out far in left field but I have noticed a growing amount of members here on base with our group called Great Danes of tinker and we all get together and have great times. I was just thinking of how amazing would it be if as many members on here ALL got available for a weekend DOL meet in a central state so no one persons drove much more than others say Colorado. I was doing some general research and noticed some places in Colorado have great dane events. I know this would have to be planned out atleast six months in advance as well hotel research. I'm just wondering if a large group of members would want to get together for something like this, A DOL massive meet and greet Dane Day! Would their be interest to people in this?

This sounds like something I'd love to do, but Colorado is wayyyy too far for me to travel for a weekend. It might work out better if we did two different locations, an east coast and a west coast meet-up. I'm in northern Virginia and CO just wouldn't be feasible for us, but we would be serious about it if the meet were not so far.

I'm in NC and I used to live in OK and would drive back here to NC on occasion, it is a 22 to 24 hour drive at best...and that's a state closer! But I would love to do something like that!!!!

It would take me three days of driving 15+ hours to reach Colorado haha. Making it to Chicago in two days was a feat for me.

Well, 30+ hours driving isn't very central for me. I'm cranky after 2 hours in a car.

A bit far for those of us up here in Canada, but a good idea for sure!

I love this idea, but agree it would have to be more regional. We have such a broad membership. I think I'd be willing to drive 5 hours-8 hours for something like this. That puts me as far north as Chicago, as far south as Orlando, as far East as Virginia Beach, and as a far west as Oklahoma City. I'd definitely make an effort to extend the trip into a vacay for myself of course. If I'm gonna pack up the big man and drive that much.

I love that idea, but Colorado is quite a hike from Washington, DC. I don't think I'd survive that drive with having a fiance, a baby and a pup in the car. I'd go looney!

That is a fantastic idea and I would give most anything to be a part of it all. That said, it would cost $500.00 RT for one dog, air cargo from Sitka to Seattle. When I win Publisher's Clearing House, I will attend these get togethers with two Danes and bells on.

+1 regional would be the ticket!
