I'm sure everyone is getting sick of me saying this, but I'm a trainer at PetSmart. Things in my job have been doing very well lately, I've been getting lots of positive reviews from my students, great feedback from private classes, ect. Well, our store (due to different reasons) got visited by HR from head office Canada. These people seemed quite impressed by me and seem to be looking to promote me to Area Pet Trainer...the person who trains the trainers.
Because of the current situation that would basically make me one of the top PetSmart trainers in Canada.
One of my suggestions that the HR people seemed to like was a pet trainer conference for our area. They want me to come up with some things we could cover in a pet trainer conference, and some ideas about how PetSmart could improve their training.
Since I read posts all the time where people are less than impressed with the PS training program I thought I'd ask for suggestions.
If you could change a few things about PS training what would it be? Why?
There might actually be a chance your suggestion could help change the way we do things.
Personally I'd love to see us get a better, more thorough education! I would love to have someone like Patricia McConnell, or Karen Pryor come and talk to us to help us improve the way we teach and run our classes.
