Make sure to introduce in a neutral area..Supervise well for the first month or so.. Never allow them alone together. Be ready to intervene if needed. Thanks for rescuing

We rescued one small male Dane (Tucker) when he was 4 years old; rescued a female 9-month old bull mastiff shortly after gettiing Tucker. They were great pals! Then when Tucker was 8 we had to say goodbye to him. Then we adopted an 8 year old female Dane who would have been 10 years old in December, but we had to put to sleep recently. (She had cancer.) So after much searching we have found a Dane through Great Dane Club of Greater Kansas City. Now our new boy will be just barely 2 years old, and I’m figuring I might have a little more to deal with than the other two I’ve lived with. This guy is about 162 lbs, mantle markings. We will be picking him up the day after he is neutered, then driving home (3-hour drive). Does anyone have any advice about what behaviors to look for or just anything I should be wary about? We have a crate ready to go—but I don’t think he’s ever been in one. Our dogs live inside and we accompanny them when they go outside. I just wondered if there were any definite DOs or DONTs for the dogs meeting and co-existing. I’m not sure of the maturity level of a 2-year old Dane.

Yes. His name is Harley, he's now 4 months old and doing well. I've had him 5 weeks today and he's gained 16 lbs on cooked boned chicken, beef liver, cooked ground beef, dry kibble and love. He was almost 12 lbs underweight when he rescued me so I'm gratified to see his progress. He's right on his ideal weight now while he continues to grow.

2 beautiful girls!!
Yes I have!
We got Bonnie in 2010 when she was 5. She was seized from a puppy mill by the ASPCA as a breeder. ( if you ever watch animal cops you Cana a glimpse of her in one of them in Escondido @ Indian Dane Rescue/Rene Kiel who we got her from) I have wrote a lot about her on here so I won't post her whole story here again other than she made a beautiful transformation, She was my best friend we spoiled her rotten and lived a happy life to be 9.
We decided we wanted to give another unlucky girl a place in her home and we found Shrimp. We don't know much about her backstory other then she was dumped at a shelter with mange and ulcerated eye at 7 months. We adopted her @ 9 months in February (our first ever puppy!!) :-) she was 97lbs and is now still growing and 110!!
Photos are in my sig. All of our dogs are rescued/adopted. I wouldn't want any other kindLast edited by Mnn89; 04-05-2016, 11:03 PM.

We've rescued a GSDog mix, a pregnant beagle, a domestic shorthair, a male hemi and almost a beautiful 4 year old black female Dane. The shelter I volunteered at called me in as soon as they got her ... I'd been on the wait list. But they didn't notice the goose-egg sized lymph nodes under her jaw, and 4 others under her arms and legs. I showed them to the Tech and suspected Lymphoma. Sure enough, it was Lymphoma. They asked if I would take her home regardless, but declined ... I have a husband with Lymphoma and wouldn't be able to handle much more. They put her down, but she came back to me in Celle, who is the spitting image of her, inside and out.
