  • "Num Num" Blanket

We were having a discussion the other day about the weird things our danes do and I just had to attach this pic of our big giant goof sucking his "num num" blanket. We have to take this stinky old thing everywhere we go. What a big strong guy eh?

Dakota has many stuffed "sucky-balls". We have enough to rotate one in the washer, one left outside, one in crate, one in bed...OH H#LL, they are EVERYWHERE!!

Joey and Daisy suck on their stuffies too so naturally Dakota picked up the appeasement also.

My danes don't have any num-nums, but my aussiex does--her left back foot. It is like her pacifier, she will stick it in her mouth sometimes sucking, sometimes it is just in there, sometimes she falls asleep like that. She doesn't chew on it and it is always the left back one. Silly little girl.

My first Great Dane had a special sucking blanket. It stayed in our room, where he slept at night. He bunched it up and sucked on it every night to go to sleep. Very endearing memory!

Our dane mix did this as well. When we brought her home at 8 weeks, a friend gave us a stuffed doggie that was bigger than Danish. She would snuggle with it, so we called it her 'mommy'. Danish soon would take it in her mouth and suck on it. When her mouth was big enough to do so, she would curl up in our laps at cuddle time and take our forearms into her mouth and do the same thing. Never any teeth, although the pressure from her sucking on our arm was pretty strong!

My 8 month old Zeke has a "num num" too. The only bad thing about it is that it is my thumb! He walks beside me all the time and sucks on my thumb if my hand is anywhere near his mouth. It was cute in the beg. now he will come find me so he can sit and suck my thumb. Crazy guy! U Gotta love em tho.

My big baby Eli sucks on his "bankie" every day! He was born at Christmas so I got him a green & red blanket when I brought him home. He has bunched it up and suckled it every day since and he's almost 2. It kinda looks like swiss cheese 2 yrs later. Matter of fact, he is sucking it at this very moment. I think it is the cutest, sweetest thing in the world!

In this pic he had gotten his brother's plaid bankie while his was being washed

He even gets his bankie and climbs in his daddy's lap to suckle it. He's such a baby

I am so glad this was posted! Dori does the same thing! She has a red chicken that is her suckie. It is worn to shreds and stinks to high heaven! But she LOVES it! She falls asleep sucking it many times a day. And every night, like clock work, she pulls it out to go to sleep with...in her mouth LOL!!!!!

Glad to hear mine's not the only one!

Below is Toby and Dori with her red chicken. Toby doesn't have a suckie thing, but he does have a favorite blankie to lay on for bed. He won't get on his bed without it!!! LOL Gotta love it.
