Hi,
My year old female dane likes to chew and shred all blankets and comforters that I put in her crate. I even bought a "durable" cover to stuff with blankets and she ripped that as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will she grow out of this? I hate to put her in her crate without something comfy to lie on!
Thanks,
Heather

Besides one of the PVC or steel beds like mentioned above I found that you cn get a horse stall mat at Tractor Supply or feed store and cut it to an exact fit in crate and they cant or dont chew it.Like said if they eat shredded peices of blanket it can kill them and or cause expensive dangerous surgeries etc....

The Kuranda beds are great! As said, they are a little pricey but well worth it.

What worked for us with Savannah (who chewed whole couches down to the springs!) was ordering a Kuranda indestructible bed to fit inside the crate. It's a sling-type raised bed iwth PVC frames. Savannah used in her crate, and now that's she's past that stage she still lays on it.
They're not cheap, but I've had three Kurandas for 6 years and they're as good as new. Info on Kurandas is here: http://www.kuranda.com/catalog/index.php

Mine did this for a while also, I had to get one of the baby crib mattresses to put in there (they have a plastic covering). You can pick them up really cheap at garage sales or the salvation army. I got one for $9. I had to monitor him at first to make sure he wasn't going to mess with it though. It is a bummer...here you think you're doing all you can to give them a comfy spot and they go and ruin it! Hope you find something that works for you!

For her own safety you are going to have to crate her without anything to lie on if she is shredding her bedding. I really can't think of anything else you can do. IMO, her safety is more important. I would hate to take everything away also, but I'd rather do that than take the chance of her eating a piece and getting a blockage.
