  • Collar size for puppy?

I'll be getting my great dane puppy when he is 8 weeks. Can anyone give me an estimate of about how many inches his neck will be? I want to go ahead and order his collar, but I have no idea what size to get! Thanks!

I'd get one of those break away adjustable collars for a young puppy. I wouldn't spend too much money on it as he won't be in it very long before he outgrows it. One from a local pet store would be fine. Save your collar money for when he's full grown.

Also, if you plan on crating, make sure to remove the collar when you put him in the crate.

Well behaved danes are not born. They are “made” by responsible and caring dane owners.

This is where I buy all my collars from. www.felinefido.com I'm pretty sure Julie has break away collars. I know she does have them for cats. I only put a collar on my dogs when we go for a walk, etc.

When I first adopted Daphne I had an incident that tought me never to leave a collar on my dogs when they are in the house. She got her rabies tag caught on the baby gate and had I not been home I don't know what would have happened

Make sure your pup is taught to sit/stay when you open the door-you certainly don't want a bolter without a collar on

OK thanks. I'll just eyeball an adjustable one. I know it won't last, but it's like a rite of passage for the new baby to get his first collar!

Oh and don't worry...I never leave their collars on at home!
