  • Best way to transport a Dane.......

in the cargo area of a Honda Pilot?

Recently adopted a Sampson, a five-year-old GD and find that he stands and hogs the back seat. We have an 85 pound Great Dane/Boxer mix Zoe, that is squished against the door when we ride with the two of them - yes, there are tethers clipped to their harnesses. Not too big a deal for short rides but we are bringing the two of them to Four Paws Kingdom campground this summer and there is no way the two of them can ride like that for two hours.

Looking at some way to keep Sampson in the cargo area and wondered what the best method is - barrier? Clipped to the cargo hooks? He is fearful of crates so that is not an option. He has a habit of trying to move up to get close to us in the front seats, probably because he was abused, but we need to restrain him back there somehow..............

We have the bar barrier type thing in our Honda Pilot. That said, if he panics and tries to force his way through, he could probably knock it down. If he sees it and is resigned to his fate, then you should be fine. It looks similar to the one in this ad, but all black:
