  • Vet in Maine

    Hi All-

I am new to this forum and the proud owner of a 6 month old male dane named Ollie. We have found a wonderful vet in Virginia but will be moving to Maine, near Bangor at the end of the month. I was hoping for some suggestions of vets in Maine with lots of Dane experience. Anyone know of any near Bangor?

    Thanks!

Thanks! Where are you in Maine? I just accepted a job in Newport and we will be moving towards the end of the month. We have found a house to rent with 5 acres...the dane pup and our adult weimaraner will just love it!

I'm in the Waterville area. My daughter lives just outside of Newport and she works in Waterville.

Actually Waterville would be just as close to you if not a bit closer then Bangor... You could always bring your fur babies to the Animal Hospital of Waterville. Dr. Rice, Dr Macmillan or Dr Chiasson would be good for your Dane. I really highly recommend Dr Rice. She was my Hailey's Dr and did her acupuncture.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm thinking we will try the vet in Waterville first. We were in Maine last week and actually drove down to Waterville. We think that we will enjoy Maine, it will be an adjustment but I think it will be a good fit for us. As I said earlier, the dogs will be very happy as we are currently in a townhouse with no yard...

The Brewer Vet Clinic is pretty good from what I've heard.

Thanks all for the replies. We really like our vet here in VA but I'm hoping we can find one just as great in Maine. Not sure where everyone is located- but are there any dane groups or meet ups?

I grew up in Maine, but didn't own Danes at the time. I always suggest when people are moving that they contact the local Dane rescue for vet reccomendations.

Good luck on your move! Enjoy vacationland!
