Hello! I have a puppy who is one week shy of being six months old. She is the first I have owned and I am really enjoying her. We just started obedience classes and are trying to decide to-spay-or-not-to spay!

I would say definitely spay, just not quite yet

Actually,
My vet talked to me about the different schools of thought about spaying before the first heat cycle or waiting. She does not seem to have a strong opinion one way or the other - so I thought I might locate info on this site. Someone mentioned searching the archives which I have not done yet but intend to before this week is over!Comment

Mostly here its recommended to spay a female dane at about 8 months, for most danes this is before the first heat but it might be after or during in which case you have to wait til the first heat is over - 3 months I think it is?Originally posted by merrymartin View Postsigpic
