  • Hi from SC!

    Greetings all!

Wanted to say hello from South Carolina to all the Dane lovers out there! We have been previously owned by two wonderful foster Danes ... one a special senior harlequin who taught me that it is always far better to hide your head under the couch cushions than to admit fault, and the other a beautiful fawn pup who proved that Danes really are the best snuggle partners (all drooling aside of course)! Both of my boys have moved on, one across the bridge , and the other to a permanent home where he's spoiled rotten and loved to distraction.
Recently my fiance and I have found ourselves missing them so much, that we've made the decision to bring a puppy into our lives on a permanent basis ... and have just begun the process of looking at breeders and/or potential rescues. We're excited to a be a part of this site, and we look forward to hearing everyone's stories and tips!!

    RE: Hi from SC!

Welcome!! Great luck as you find the perfect breeder and in turn the ideal pup. Lean on the people here for help anywhere you need it- this place is SO useful! I joined 8 months before I brought my first dane home, and the research was priceless.

Bless you for fostering- I'm surprised you didn't become a "foster failure" (adopting your foster pups) :7

                RE: Hi from SC!

Hi I'm in SC too! In the Charleston area. We just got our first dane too. I wanted to foster but there were none that would work with my family as I have 2 small children. We ended up adopting Sir Percy.
                This site is great!

                  RE: Hi from SC!

Thanks for the warm welcome! My fiance Nick and I live in Aiken, SC. I have worked previously as a veterinary technician, and have done rescue for almost six years, but due to an upcoming move (into our very first home, being built as we speak!!:7 ) I've gotten away from fostering. Plus, as mentioned, it just gets harder and harder not to keep them all!! We are still owned by a super sweet black lab named Abby (who came to us as a 4yr old pound puppy), and a 4 month old handful of feline trouble named Pandora (who came via a foster kitty who failed to mention she had missed a few doses of her birth control pills . :'( )
We're planning on acquiring our dane after our house is completed, as we'll have much more room and plenty of time to help him get aquainted to his new surroundings. Does anyone have any specific breeder suggestions for the South Carolina area? I've looked into a few breeders in the surrounding states, and we are willing to travel if necessary, but wasn't sure if anyone had any particularly good experiences with a breeder in Southeastern region?

Hi welcome to the site! My husband and I have had Danes over the years and swear this to be the best place to go for questions and answers. Everyone here is so very helpfull. We got our Crystal from Lynn at Covered in Danes, she is in the Atlanta region. She truly cares about her 4 legged kids. And I think she has a litter coming up. You can contact her at www.coveredindanes.com She really is a great person.

Welcome. This is the best Dane website out there! I wish they had sites like this for more breeds. Enjoy the snuggling, my boyfriend has lost his snuggling place on the couch now. Although it must be a site to see the 3 of us all cuddled up on the couch :+

If you go to DOL Home page and hit Harlequins or Mantles and go to Georgia, you will find The site that is mentioned above.
