  • Again... Some help, please.. pics

I'm sure guys are getting sick of hearing this, but I'm freakin' out. I've been doing the tea tree oil on the spots, the fish oil caps, and just used the lavender in the shampoo followed by the leave-on mix lurchmom suggested. He is already on antibiotics (cephelexin) but it just seems to be getting worse... I just don't know what to do..

    This was taken Tuesday

It looks like he is scratching it. Try putting Gold Bond on it to relieve the itch and allow the antibiotics to do their thing.

Poor Loki! That looks so painful for him.
The only thing that I have ever done for skin issues is get some chlorhexidine (Hibitane) scrub and wash the area twice daily with that and continue with antibiotics that he is already on. Some dogs have reactions to the tea-tree oil.

Faust had a few places like that he was itching..... i know this sounds silly and too easy but... Bag Balm.

I coated it with a heavy layer of Bag Balm and the next day you could hardly see it and the scratching stopped. In two days it is completely gone. he had one under his armpit and one rash on his bum area.

The way it is everywhere it looks like an allergic reaction. Sadly after 3 days of Pig feet I have found Faust is intolerant to pork. He broke out in a rash after the first day but I did not connect it. I blamed the heat and the park. Today he had water poops and I think his scale just got tipped too far. It really is a shame he absolutely loves pork but when i think back to when he was a poppy he used to get super runny poop when I have him pork tenders but again just now connected it.

Thank you guys. I am ready to cry. Scratching is all he does. I have been putting Gold Bond in his pits, they are torn up too, so I will put some on his tummy to. He has been on the ceph for 10 days, does it take this long or do you think he needs something stronger? Since some react to tea tree, should I use a lavender in carrier oil instead?

Desi does this all of the time. It will clear up and come back, though it is far worse in the summer. I put Gold Bond on it to dry it out and give her a couple of days on antibiotics and it always seems to clear up.

Not to sound completely dumb, but what is Bag Balm? We've had no poop issues at all, and nothing different in his diet. He gets home cooked and munches sporadically on kirkland chicken and rice. Would a food allergy present without poop issues?

I have nothing to add remedy wise, just to let you know we aren't sick of hearing this, and of course you're freaking out.

                      http://www.bagbalm.com/

You can get it at any walgreens or farm and feed store. It is made for the utters of cows originally after milking so it is very soothing and not at all irritating. Faust actually loves it and he is a baby about everything.

Also they can sometimes but it is less common it could be a contact allergy tho. Has he touched anything or laid on anything that is new or possibly outdoors?

And I agree 100%... we are NEVER sick of hearing this. That is what everyone is here for.

Nothing new, but we have a doggie door and fenced yard. He likes to go out and lay in the grass/sand. I live in SW Fla, you know what yards are like down here.
But we don't use any chemicals at ALL on our backyard.

Do you have a cotton t-shirt that you could put around the torso that would fit fairly tight over the affected areas? With small dogs, we sometimes do this with a sock or small dog shirt when they have skin issues or incisions from surgery that they shouldn't scratch. It might work with Loki if you can get a good fit.

Great idea on the shirt. If you have any hair bands or rubber bands it is a great way to hold extra fabric.
