Question about blue mantles

Just wondering why this is not an AKC sanctioned color.

The color is most certainly recognized by AKC. However, per the breed standard set forth by the Great Dane Club of America - it is not a SHOW color. This means you cannot show a blue mantle in the AKC show ring. It is considered a non-standard color.

There are 6 accepted show colors in this breed which is actually quite a few compared to the majority of breeds who only have ONE recognized color.

Blue harls and blue mantles are a recognized show color in Australia.
