  • "Catching up" nutritionally?

We have been told that our potential Dane rescue pup had a "rough start" nutritionally (fed kibble with protein too high and probably weaned early from mom). Any thoughts on the best way to remedy this? He is currently on Costco's Nature's Domain grain free. We have been looking at Orijen. He seems a bit on the small side for his age (four months).
    Thx!

Protein is NOT an issue if it comes mainly from meat sources and for what short amount of time he "may" have been on a food that was too high it really shouldn't have made much difference. Calcium/phosphorous levels are far more of an issue then protein and is what causes issues even then since he is only 4 months now he wasn't on solids too long.
Nature's Domain is a good food. Orijen is better but it is fine ot stay on Nature's Domain if the pup is doing well on it. I would not be concerned if the pup is on the small end of the scale at this point in time. Proper nutrition & genetics will dictate how the pup will grow and how big it will become. People put far to much emphasis on weight/height .
