WoW. That is one hell of a lawsuit. It reminds me a lot of the big tobacco lawsuit and a few friends of my mothers were the plaintiffs attorneys on the big tobacco case. Sadly, we will not see a result for years as it will be covered in as much paper and motions to drag this out until the general public forgets about it and then attempted to settle out of court. It depends what the plantiffs are looking for. If they are looking for change and truth then they will continue to trial but if they are just looking for some cash the settlements are hard to turn down.

Wow is right! I've heard a lot about the kibble issues over the past few years. My mom has two Yorkies and she now cooks their food. I wanted to do the same, but I'd have to buy a butcher shop for these two. Being a disabled veteran, I'm on a fixed income, can handle my boys just fine, with Kibble and natural treats, but to do raw or cooked all the time might stretch the budget.

I will however do what is necessary to keep these little guys healthy and happy. I do not put money ahead of anything. Life is too precious and short.

Hopefully, you'll keep us posted on this...

      Thanks for the good info.

That is incredible!! I'll never forget years ago when I was feeding Pedigree canned food and I opened up the can and there was a whole chicken foot in it. Needless to say, I stopped feeding that crap immediately.

No, it's not that surprising at all, and I hope every one of those companies get exactly what is coming to them. ESPECIALLY Science Diet and Iams Companies. The ones that are suppose to be the best. HA! What a joke. I hope it brings them to their knees and that consumers and the Veterinarians that so highly recommend them have to wise up and read up and get with the program.

Sorry, just a little frustrated here. It's a fight I have with my boss/Vet ALL the time. It makes me so mad.

I am interested in what effect the publicity of this lawsuit plus the pending court proceedings will have on vets and what they recommend and decide to carry in their office.

I can not find any updates about the lawsuit. It is likely it settled out of court or is still in litigation.

I didn't really see how old the suit was when I posted the info, but I thought it would be good information for those who feed kibble as to the reasoning behind choosing higher quality food.

I am going to show this to my mom, because not only does she think Beneful is the freaking best food in the world, but when it was time to put our English Setter down she also thought if she didnt want the dogs ashes back, the vet would cremate her and spread her ashes at a nice lake for no charge...like she thought they did for all pts animals...how sweet....

Cant wait to see her face when she realizes she could have been feeding Daisy to her next dog down the road!

(For the books, I argued with her until she actually got the cremation and urn )

                        Sorry...

UGH!! I had a busy weekend and was unable to visit DOL much, so I am just seeing this thread. YUCK!! I can't believe these companies can get away with the things they do, and bottom line is that I am sure it will never change I have friends who swear by the beneful, etc. I should email them all!! I knew about all the shit they were putting in the foods but I didn't really know the extent. I am so glad I have kept my dogs away from that junk!!

I was doing some food research yesterday and found this website.

                            http://www.dogfoodproject.com/

I thought it was very interesting and informative. Might be a good website to show to anyone who is confused about food (or stuck on using a cheap brand) because it gives detailed explanations about the use of "byproducts" in foods and exactly what that means.
