Hey all, we need some help. Our 15 mo, female has been having feeding and digestion problems and is now underweight. She is very active, loves playing, but doesn't really have much of an appetite. Also, it seems like half of her bowel movements are very soft. The past few days, she has had really bad diarrhea. We took her to the vet, and they are doing a full work up (fecal, blood, etc.) They discovered a bacteria that may be causing some of the problems, and think the low appetite may have something to do with stomach aches from eating, so just avoiding eating. Well, now we just need to get her to eat and to gain weight. They are recommending a high protein high fat diet for a while. I know this is usually discouraged for danes, but this is not a normal situation and she has some catching up to do.
Has anyone ever been in this situation? Any recommendations for a quality food to help her gain some weight, and then later one that will help her maintain?
