  • For those looking to buy a puppy and breeder referrals

Here's a list of links for some of the newer members to review, since there are so many questions about looking for puppies:

    "Responsible breeder's checklist"

    "How 2 Buy a Puppy...a personal opinion."

"THREE STEPS TO FINDING A GOOD PET DANE"

"What Do You, the Puppy Buyer, Look for in a Breeder?"

    "Buyer Beware!!!"

"Beware the Language of the Sale!"

    "Necessary Health Checks?"

"Why do good people buy from bad breeders?"

    "SILENCE IS.....LEAD?"

    "Nonrefundable deposits???"

"For the buyer - general breed info"

    "Definition of Terms"

"More than nice dogs to make a nice litter"

How much does a Great Dane cost

    "How to read a pedigree"

    What's in a pedigree?

    "Who's a breeder?"

Hopefully, this will be a start. Just a reminder, don't shop for puppies. Look for a breeder that you will have a relationship with, even if you are buying a "pet". JMO.

The key to finding a companion is research, and not puppy shopping.

Want a breeder referral? Contact your local Great Dane Club. Breeder referrals are not permitted on the forums. Please be wary of anyone contacting you to sell you a puppy. Unscrupulous people lurk on the forums solely to refer unsuspecting buyers to friends/family or their own puppies for sale.

Below are some additional links to aid in your search for the ideal great dane puppy.

There are a bunch of threads here too in Buying a Great Dane

I'll add more as time goes on

RE: For those looking for breeders

Awww Thanks Carolyn, :P You're making me blush!

Just thought it would help some of the new members, it seems that alot of them are looking for specific referrals, and jumping around from breeder to breeder, and are looking for some help. Figured if a basic list of posts about buying pups, was in one spot, they wouldn't have to search much for some good advice on breeders and pups.(I tried to leave out the heated ones though, LOL)

I think Carolyn's right! Great job! And (as long as you don't mind?) I was so inspired I revamped my "how to find a puppy" page at the chroma-linx to include this. Thanks again for the work. So much info out there anymore anyone who organizes it gets my appreciation! regards,

Oh JP! Wonderful! I'm blushing again! :P Well, for the little I know about danes, at least I have some pretty decent organizational skills, LOL! Thank you for the compliment. Hope all is well with you. Great to see you posting.

I answered your question on your other thread. It's not necessary to ask the same question on multiple threads.

when I get time, I will update them, but in the meantime, you can simply put the title of the thread into our search engine and click "Search titles only" and it should bring up the post.
